The Academy Chamber Orchestra (ACO) is the premier Youth Chamber Orchestra in the Pacific Northwest. It provides a unique opportunity for advanced instrumentalists to perform the chamber orchestra repertoire of four centuries. In addition, the orchestra premiers many new compositions, some by our own students, and performs World Music from many cultures that are not included in the European classical tradition. In our first season, Michael Shrieve, drummer for the group Santana, auditioned many ensembles throughout the Seattle area for a special presentation at the Moore Theater. The Academy Chamber Orchestra was the only classical ensemble chosen for this honor and was presented as the opening performing group. ACO also performs live on Classic KING FM, on KUOW FM, and at Cultural Events throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The Academy Chamber Orchestra provides an opportunity for our musicians to read and perform concerto repertoire with the orchestra. As a result of this valuable experience, many of our students are selected to perform concertos with major orchestras in the Pacific Northwest.

Our musicians range in age from 13 to 21 and have won numerous awards and honors on their respective instruments. Our graduates routinely receive multiple acceptances from major schools and have gone on to attend the Curtis Institute, Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School, The Cleveland Institute, and the Peabody Conservatory.

Rehearsal Location
The orchestra rehearses from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday evenings at the Haller Lake United Methodist Church 13055 1st Avenue NE Seattle, WA 98125 . Carpooling from the Eastside and throughout the Seattle area can be arranged.

Tuition
Tuition is $425 per semester or one payment of $795 for the whole season if received before November 1st.
